The purpose of an Optimist Club is to develop Optimism as a philosophy of life while following the tenets of the Optimist Creed.
The Optimist Club of Annapolis has provided scholastic, athletic and community oriented activities for the Annapolis area for over 40 years.
We sponsor an essay and oratorical contest, baseball, Shop with a Cop, Junior Optimist Club and many other community activities which help "Bring Out the Best in Kids".

We are a local chapter of the Maryland South Delaware District of Optimist International.
Since 1968 our club has provided athletic, scholastic and community oriented activities for the youth of the greater Annapolis area.
From bringing the circus to town in May, supporting youth sports, encouraging youth in government and scholarship programs we touch the lives of many.
Meetings
The board meetings are held the first Monday of each month. Contact Harry Chalstrom for meeting times and locations at 410-263-3025. Meetings are open to all members.
Dinner meetings are held from September through April on the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM at
bb Bistro in West Annapolis.
The November and December dinners are however held the 3rd Thursday. Please check the calendar section of the web site for more information or call Bonnie Hitzelberger at 410-268-1783 for locations.
Membership is open to all adults of good character who are desirous of supporting our programs and activities. There are two types of membership ? regular and Friends of Optimists. We suggest that prior to applying for membership that you volunteer for one of our activities and attend a monthly dinner meeting.
Membership dues are billed annually in October. Should you join throughout the year the dues are prorated. Membership in the local chapter automatically gives you membership in the Maryland South Delaware District and Optimist International.
